[P90X Lean Workout] My P90X Lean Workouts Week Two Routines

Last week, I started keeping a weekly accountability series of posts on my P90X Lean workouts to start off 2010 and here we are with week number 2 of my P90X Lean routine.

P90X Lean Workout Routine – Week Two

Day 1 – Core Synergistics – “Superman/Banana” and “Dreya rolls” definitely fire up your core muscles. I still struggle with the Dreya rolls due to my right knee.
Day 2 – Cardio X – this is still a workout I enjoyed. Really end up sweating.
Day 3 – Shoulders & Arms, Ab Ripper X – still using light weight resistance bands because of my right shoulder and my neck so shoulders and arms were not nearly as sore as my abs were the next day.
Day 4 – Yoga X – STRUGGLED with this workout! Not a lot changed here…except that I was able to go 5 minutes longer than last week’s workout.
Day 5 – Legs & Back, Ab Ripper X – my right knee wasn’t AS sore/tender after this workout as it was after last week’s workout…and my abs are STILL sore from the last Ab Ripper X workout again! Owww…
Day 6 – Kenpo X – my range of motion in my kicks on my right side is far limited in comparison to my left side…but it didn’t hurt, so that was encouraging.
Day 7 – Rest or X Stretch – for me…this is an “active” rest day today for week two of P90X Lean. No stretch workout for me. Instead, I went to the gym with my wife so I could hit the stationary bike for 45 minutes of cardio.

Well, that’s it for me. Just a quick post to keep myself accountable to this process of my P90X Lean workouts. :)

[P90X Lean Workout] My P90X Lean Week One Routines

Well the first week of my P90X Lean workouts is in the books. And I am SORE!!!! What a way to start off the new year. I’m so thankful I’ve been drinking the P90X Recovery Drink, or I’d not be able to get out of bed! :D P90X Lean is no joke! One of the biggest mistakes people make when they start P90X is they try too hard the first week. Start off with 60-70% intensity. Learn the moves…don’t kill yourself. Even at 70% for me this week, I’m very sore!

P90X Lean Workout Routine – Week One

Day 1 – Core Synergistics – are you kidding me? OUCH…and can you say, “Banana” or “Dreya rolls”? haha that was a hard workout.
Day 2 – Cardio X – I enjoyed this workout.
Day 3 – Shoulders & Arms, Ab Ripper X – OWWWWWWWW…Ab Ripper X. 300 moves!
Day 4 – Yoga X – I am going to STRUGGLE with this workout! I am not flexible, need my yoga block and I’ve gotta be careful due to the herniated discs in my neck but I burned over 740 calories so that made my day!
Day 5 – Legs & Back, Ab Ripper X – legs were made of rubber after this workout…and my abs are STILL sore from the last Ab Ripper X workout!
Day 6 – Kenpo X – I kicked and punched my way through this workout and LOVE IT! :)
Day 7 – Rest or X Stretch – for me…this is a rest day today for week one of P90X Lean. I’m planning to go take a 30 minute walk around the neighborhood so I can log into the WOWY SuperGym and be qualified to win money from Beachbody just for working out! I’m always excited when the $1000 prize day comes around. But…I’m competitive with myself, so I still might do the stretch workout tonight.

Even after dozens upon dozens of 10 Minute Trainer workouts in 2009, they don’t compare to the intensity of P90X workouts! There are places on my body that I haven’t been sore at in YEARS! And this is only the first week! I’m looking forward to the next couple months of P90X Lean!

We’re all connected on Facebook, so it’s fun to encourage each other and celebrate each others’ successes! It’s always great to have support group of people who share a common goal and vision! What Is P90X Lean By Beachbody?

I’ve had a lot of people have asked me, “Okay Tim, I’m familiar with the TV infomercial P90X, but what is P90X Lean?” or “Is P90X Lean a different program and if so, what does is cost to buy it from you?” and the other top question is, “Why did you choose to start with the Lean version of P90X?”

Well, let’s start with answering with is P90X Lean? :)

There are 3 variants of the original P90X workouts that can be done with the 12 DVD P90X Extreme Fitness Workout. The “Classic” version of P90X that most people are familiar with. The “Doubles” P90X is geared around 2 a day workouts. Super intense.

P90X Lean is for those people who want a more cardio-based and slightly less intensive program. Make no mistake, P90X Lean is the real deal and definitely no picnic. In fact, you may sweat even more than P90X. What you sacrifice in overall gains in strength and speed, you’ll make up for with positive changes in lean body mass.

During this period your body is going to become accustomed to the rigors and demands of P90X by forming engrams, or neuromuscular patterns that allow you to turn new movements into routines. Your aim should be able to finish each workout and perfect each movement, as opposed to focusing on weight and repetition. As your body gets used to the exercises, it will do them more efficiently and the amount of weight you can use will greatly increase. You should begin to see this skyrocket towards the end of week three.

The reason why I started with P90X Lean instead of the Classic version of P90X is because of the complete inactivity for nearly 10 months because of the car accident in January. No cardio. No lifting anything. Many days locked in bed with headaches. I became a body full of pudding. I was winded walking upstairs in our loft. I could BARELY make the physical fitness standard to start P90X. I had swelled to 30% bodyfat by the time I began P90X Lean. That is 60 pounds of fat that was hanging off my body and belly!

I knew I needed to rebuild my body. I knew I wanted to shed all the fat on my body. Get as lean as possible and find my flat stomach once again. So for me, a P90X version that focused more on getting cardio in was perfect for me.

Two months later, I’m down 8 pounds on the scale! But more important and more exciting to me is that even though I still can’t complete a single workout of P90X Lean, I have LOST 20 POUNDS of FAT and have gained 12 pounds of lean muscle! I am seeing results!

So for me, P90X Lean was going to be the beginning of a lifestyle. Not some new diet fad, or the hottest new pill to take.

This is a commitment to live a life designed around being in the best physical condition that I can be. To live as healthy of a life that I can through this Beachbody Revolution lifestyle.

What Do You Need For The P90X Workout?

A lot of people are asking after watching the P90X workout TV infomercial if I have any additional recommendations for product to begin P90X.

So what is needed for your P90X workout???

Here are the essentials I know you’ll need for the P90X workouts:

1. P90X DVDs – Comes with all of the workouts, the workout plans (P90X Lean, P90X Classic & P90X Doubles), and the nutrition guide.

2. P90X Chin Up Bar – You will be using this in three of the P90X DVDs – this really is a requirement.

3. Resistance bands or dumbbells – either one is fine.

I hope that sometime next year Beachbody will put together a P90X package that includes these as a bare minimum together. That would ROCK! :)

Optional items I think you’ll need to make the P90X workout even more successful:

1. P90X Recovery Drink – INCREDIBLE tasting drink for after your workout to repair your muscles and help minimize soreness.

2. Push Up Bars – take the stress off of your wrists when doing push ups and hit your chest, shoulder and triceps even more effectively.

3. Yoga Mat – to cover your hardwood floors or carpet when doing YogaX and PlyoX.

4. Yoga Blocks – helps with balance and/or additional stretching when doing Yoga.

5. Heart Rate Monitor – make sure you are keeping your heart rate in the optimal workout range.
